The mission of the doctoral school is the training of the scientific elite and the provision of academic and research staff in the fields of science cultivated at the school. The conditions for the operation of the school are ensured by the departments of the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Nuclear Techniques, the MTA–BME Research Group for Physics of Condensed Matter, three MTA–BME Lendület Research Groups, as well as cooperating research institutes and industrial research laboratories.
The majority of supervisors are principal investigators or leading researchers of national or international research projects. These projects involve relevant and cutting-edge research in their respective fields. Within the framework of the projects, supervisors support students’ involvement in international research, and in many cases are also able to provide supplementary financial support. The international integration of the school is also demonstrated by the high number of foreign postdoctoral positions obtained by our graduates. The prestige of the program and the motivation of the students are further reflected by the fact that in the past five years, 80% of doctoral dissertations have been written in English.
Since its establishment, the doctoral school has awarded more than 200 doctoral degrees.
